Students will explore piano basics like:

  • Hand position & finger numbers

  • Rhythm & note reading

  • Simple songs and musical games

  • Confidence-building performance prep

  • App Based Music Learning to try out the piano and get ready for traditional private piano lessons.

Heather Korn

Heather Korn – Director

Heather Korn is a highly qualified and experienced voice and piano instructor at Music Works Academy. She is a 1992 graduate of Beatrice High School. She holds a Bachelor of Music (B.M.) in Voice from Coe College and a Master of Music (M.M.) in Voice from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Heather has a strong academic foundation in music. She also pursued additional training at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, which has further refined her skills as a vocal coach and performer. She returned to Nebraska and began teaching in Beatrice in 2021 and opened Music Works Academy in September, 2022.

A talented pianist who has been playing since the age of 6, Heather also specializes in teaching piano. Her students have won awards in Jazz, Classical, and Contemporary piano, showcasing her ability to guide students to excellence in various styles of music. Heather specializes in preparing young musicians for careers in music and the performing arts, with many of her former students from Las Vegas and Tennessee now pursuing successful musical careers worldwide.

Heather’s passion for teaching and dedication to her students have earned her notable recognition in the music world. She was honored with the Outstanding Teacher of the Arts Award from Middle Tennessee State University’s Governor’s School of Music, acknowledging her exceptional ability to inspire and mentor young artists. Additionally, her insightful book reviews have been published in the American Music Teacher Magazine, reflecting her deep understanding of the music lessons and music pedagogy.

Her rich experience also includes an internship with the Metropolitan Opera Education program in New York City, where she gained invaluable exposure to the world of opera and arts education. Heather was awarded the Crawford Music Prize from Coe College, a testament to her excellence in music education and performance.

Heather is excited to share her expertise and passion for both voice and piano with students of all ages and levels at Music Works Academy. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced musician, Heather provides tailored instruction to help you achieve your musical goals
